I would use the service to replace my external hard drives as backup devices. I currently have two old slow ones and have to remember to take them to work with me as external backup ( I alternate one at work one at home each week)

I think I should get a free premium account because I read your blog each day and I’m first to respond!

I will use it to sync my documents across different computers and also to backup them online. I’m already using another syncing services to sync my docs. These’re really a helpful services. Some of the best things cloud services offer.

  • Asmita

This will be handy to store my confidential documents and files. And my important codes as well.

  • Kees

I would use SpiderOak to sync my websites across the internet, so I can access them all over the world. Also, I would use it to sync my school presentations and docs, so I never have to use an USB stick again :) .
I need it because my mother doesn’t let me spend money on something like this :P .

  • DonnaM

This would definitely be a useful account for me. I have two twin nieces who live across the country from me and I’m missing seeing them grow up. It’s been difficult to receive the many photos that my family takes of them and it would be so easy to upload them to a centralized location for sharing. Crossing my fingers :-)

    How would I use SpiderOak?

Well, I will use it in a traditional way and back up my MacBook Pro so that, in the case of, for instance, a fire, I will have an off-site backup for my files.

However, I will use SpiderOak primarily to accommodate my student needs. As a undergraduate student, virtually everything is given on PowerPoint/Keynote presentations. Then, you also have problem sets, their respective solutions, even PDF textbooks in some cases. So, SpiderOak will enable me to have access to all of these files from everywhere at once.

P.S. With their universal iOS app and my iPad 2 arriving on April 29th, I will be able to take full advantage of their app, since I will not have to carry around my MacBook Pro everywhere. Instead, I will only need my iPad with the SpiderOak app.

P.P.S. I reiterate that I’m a student. Thus, I am not swimming in pools of money. This can be another reason why you should pick me for a free premium account.

    Thanks you! :)

Storage is the most important thing for our online lives, and now a days everyone is going to the cloud! If i get this i will back up all my devices and sleep quietly at night.

At this point i have to spread all my data all over the internetz, it wold be nice to have one quiet place for all my data to hang out.

  • https://secure.cloudsafe.com Roberto Valerio

I need one to evaluate our competition. Thanks ;)

  • Tye

I’m an aspiring photographer and right now im not backing up my photos to the cloud. I’m tempting fate.

  • Shane

I translate books within a non-profit paradigm and we always need storage and backup. This seems like it would be ideal.

  • Pixelbak

Spideroak is a great app, because you can deside wich directories to backup and/or sync

  • http://durso.co.cc Mike

File storage is crucial for me as I need to back up files for school and work-related assignments as well as web files that I use in creating various websites, thus making SpiderOak just the right application for me!

Also, SpiderOak’s sharing and access capabilities would be of incredible use to me as I would then be able to share and collaborate on assignments for class projects, work-related projects, and a lot more!

  • Gijs

    Nice!! Count me in please,,

  • guy

SpiderOak – cause its time for some massive online storage!
I would use it to store my precious memories of my beautiful family as well various artistic works I am engaged in.

  • saad

i will use this to backup my projects. this awesome premium account will make my life easier for caring my files anywhere i go and use it anytime, than remembering to carry my usb drive with me, all the time.

  • http://www.ministrypixel.com Josh Bartolomucci

We have tried many online backup applications to backup our client’s files, but still haven’t found the right one for us. We have been keeping an eye on SpiderOak. This would be amazing to win. Thank you so much for the opportunity.

  • Brian

This would be put to fantastic use. As a design student online storage for transferring files, storage, and an online storage for all my work is an ideal help for any student. Having access to all my files in one place as a design or reference past projects would make things very easy and make my work flow more efficient to access files needed for projects. This is a great thing for anyone who gets awarded this. Thanks for your consideration.

  • Francisco

Hey i’d use it to host my xcode projects and all the ebooks, docs and other documentation i deal with everyday!!

  • http://pablolarah.cl/ Pablo Lara H

Great! I would use it to create a backup for my illus and my clients projects. And I deserve the free premium account, because every designer or illustrator really needs backups of their projects. It is a necessity for us.

  • Dan Peters

I would use this service to back up my priceless photos and important client design files.

  • Mike

I want it! I would use it all the time!

  • Yifan Jin

I would use it for storage of a lot of photographs I take or some of the images I make for web design/development as they take a lot of space and I could store many of my images I don’t need right away on SpiderOak.

I think I should get a free SpiderOak premium account because I am read Appstorm and some Tuts+ as well daily. Being the first post doesn’t hurt either. :p

  • Paul

I’d love to get one of those accounts. I regularly use dropbox to transfer files from my Mac to my iPad, and it’s great to be able to acces files wherever I am. It’d be great to try out this service!

  • Kevin

I would like to rely less, if not outright replace, my external harddrives for confidential documents and files. I would also like to backup the various websites I maintain.

  • Ryan

I’d like to use it to back up files for my thesis and dissertation work. Personal files too of course. Grad students are poor!

  • Drudoo

I have tried different methods for backing up to the cloud and most of the time it is slow and painful. SpiderOak on the other hand seem to work nice and fast. A premium account would be awesome!

  • http://mbjones.net Brandon

    I’ll enter!

I’ll use it to back up my stuff for sure! :) I’m actually an American living in Africa, working with an NGO. My hard drive crashed about a month ago, and backups are stateside and inaccessible so it’d be nice to have something “cloud based”. :)

  • Andrew Baker

I would use SpiderOak to store and back up my school work so that I can access the files when I am at school or at a friend’s house. I do a lot of photography and video work at school so I need as much space as I can get. I would also think about putting my aperture vault in it.

  • http://www.mhproductions.eu Maarten van den Heuvel

I have a Macbook, a Windows PC and a shiny, brand new iPad 2. But my files are always on the device that’s not within reach on the moment I need them. As a graphic designer, I work with many files and on many different places. It’s a hard job keeping up with all my projects and files. I wouldn’t know what to do without a fantastic service like SpiderOak syncing all my files for me! It’s just that money issue, over and over again…

  • http://phillipjacobs.com Phillip Jacobs

I’d like to backup everything and access it from anywhere! That’s what I like most.

  • MJ

Would love to use this to sync my photos!

  • Jerry

I’d use it for my daughter in the College of Design at the University. She would be able to access her documents and her digital art from anywhere on campus be it her dorm room, classes, study groups, or at home when she comes to visit (not often enough). She would be able to access her files to show at a moment’s notice while at a job interview or as an elevator pitch to snag a freelance project.

It also couldn’t hurt if I got to see her most current work so I can be proud as well as justify the huge tuition I’m paying! Would it kill her to call once and a while?

  • Spreng

I would use a premium SpiderOak account to back up and sync my school, work, and personal files into the cloud for easy access and safety from hard drive crashes and other problems. With a 100GB I would be able to that and more!

The reason why I should get a free premium account is I don’t have the extra $10 a month to pay for it.

  • Afdzal Aamirus

I use a Macbook pro in the office, but because of the industry i’m in, I’m forced to use Bootcamp and boot up Windows. So when i go home, I use my Mac OS X, but in the office I use Windows.
This causes abit of a problem especially if I need to quickly access files on one operating system while being on another.

Rebooting to Windows and subsequently back to OS X is a pain, and not to mention being a very time consuming process. SpiderOak would help loads in this instance. Instead of relying on time consuming reboots, I can just sync my documents to the SpiderOak account and retrieve them whenever necessary-on whichever OS i’m on.

Besides the issue of rebooting my operating systems, the Mac OS is also not compatible with the NTFS file system. This is an issue because many of my hard disks utilise this very system. So without having to search for a FAT32 specific hard disk(which I have to plug into Windows and manually check) I can just sync my files from SpiderOak.

Lastly, I also bring around my iPad 2, and it would be very useful if I’m able to (at the very least) view my documents on it. PDF files, powerpoint presentations, etc would be a great fit for this device and I wouldnt have to boot up my computer if i had to show certain slides-i can just retrieve the presentation from SpiderOak. The added encryption makes this all the more secure.

While on-the-go, this service pretty much makes my iPad 2 that much more useful. They would complement each other very nicely.
