Are the iPad mini Rumors True?

Lots of talk recently about that rumored iPad mini. As of Wednesday, the Wall Street Journal reported that there are already companies working on the rumored 7.85-inch device, and that it’s coming in October.

I’ve also read rumors (although I can’t find them now, of course), that Apple will send out invitations on October 10, then follow that up with an event on Oct 17. Sometimes when these things are so incredibly specific, they seem plausible.

So what about you? Do you think the iPad mini will be out this month? Let us know in the poll to the right!

Well I haven’t seen any invitations, which is a little upsetting. I have been waiting to hear some kind of announcement about a release date. I have been hearing about the iPad Mini for weeks from a coworker at DISH and now I cannot stop looking for whatever information I can find on it. I really just want it to be able to take it with me out of the house, especially with all the new shows and new fall season here, to watch live TV on the DISH Remote Access app so I don’t have to miss any of the shows this season. It will be nice to be able to carry it around in my purse and not have it weigh me down like the iPad currently.

I can understand alot of the positive stuff with a smaller iPad, but is weight really an issue here? It weights as much as a book, and if you cant carry a book around, the problem isnt the book, its you. I have friends who buy expensive new computers because they are lighter and i just stare at them. Are a average laptop/iPad really that heavy that we need a new lighter one? Or should we stop being so ridiculously lazy and comfortable and start carry our stuff even if they weight as much as a full grown hamster?
