This week’s poll is a little different. For one, it’s going to be massive.

Over the past week or so a fascinating chart by Brett Terpstra has become extraordinarily popular. Essentially it’s a huge comparison of every available iOS text editor.

I’ll let you in on a little secret, there are a lot of them…

This weeks poll simply asks the question; which one do you use? Which iPad text editor is your favourite, your go-to app, your current muse.

I have no idea what the result is going to be, but I’m pretty excited! Let me know in the comments if this chart has made you rethink your current favourite, and why you particularly like the one you’ve settled on.

Hmmm. Well, I use Notes or QuickOffice. The first comes with the iPad, the latter is one of the most popular Office apps. Neither is listed though?!

Wow, I didn’t know Vim has been ported to iOS! Giving it a try now!

    Um . . . Pages?

Elements. It supports Markdown Extra so I can write footnotes and has PDF export. Simply the best.

My go-to texteditor on ipad is pages, but that isn’t on this list either. Looks like it’s a bit an incomplete list

I’ve been an avid user of iA Writer and still love the app, but the iPhone companion of Byword is just better, so I switched over completely to Byword.

There are still a few glitches with Byword on the iPad and iCloud (the developers are aware and working with Apple to fix stuff on their end) and so far that has been the only thing that still brings iA Writer up for me, but other than that I’m a happy Byword user.

And no mention of Pear Note, the iOS companion app to the Mac app and fully compatible with it. Full rtf formatting and the killer feature – word for word syncing to audio as well as PDF slide syncing. For real time note taking its hard to beat.
