Get ready to mount your steed and charge off toward the cliffs shouting “Freeeeeeeeeeeedoooooom!” because today’s Game Thursday roundup is all about the battles, people. We’re talking warriors, knights, fighter pilots and Avengers challenging everything from dark sorceresses to demons from hell to just general, pure evil.
So grab your battle axe and buckle up (Those two things don’t really go together, do they? They shouldn’t.), and then hit “more” because tonight, we ride!
So you and your brethren have just successfully fought for your independence from the controlling Korassians, but their leader the prince wants to beat you back into submission. Now it’s time for you to rise up to the challenge and prevent your people from once again becoming enslaved.
Of course, you’ll have to build up some resources first, meaning you get to establish your colony; collect resources like funds and weapons; erect buildings; explore the empire; command your forces; wage battles; and more.
This is a game that can very easily make you lose track of time while you’re training your army, building up your colony’s defenses, making alliances with other cities/players and taking part in tournaments. So go download it right now, but clear your calendar first.
The first episode of the Marvel phenomenon has arrived for the iPhone, and you get to play as the Hulk, tracking and taking down villains like Wendigo, Abomination, The Kronan and the Skrulls — all monsters who escaped with The Vault was blown open following The Pulse — while Nick Fury and S.H.I.E.L.D. round up The Avengers to put an end to all the mischief.
In addition to boasting awesome graphics and special effects, the game gives you the opportunity for some customization — you can acquire exclusive costumes, unlock bonus super powers, upgrade combat stats for the Hulk and more. The gesture-based action translates to super-fast attack responses and combo moves while in combat.
There are tons of opportunities to get more out of the game than just gameplay, too. Registering with Marvel XP (a free service) lets you track your progress, see your achievements, unlock badges, check out character dossiers and uncover further bonus content. The developers promise continuous updates, scheduled events, anticipated character reveals and more.
Like sexy pilots? You came to the right place. These belles are all about fast planes, big guns and shooting down bad guys. Play with more than 200 different planes, plus cannons, missile launchers and other powerful weapons.
Choose between single player or multiplayer mode; through the GameCenter, you can fly right across enemy lines and own the skies with the help of other players, or battle your friends in Arena Deathmatch mode.
Use the Supply Drop feature to try your luck at winning helpful resources and bonus items. Or you can make an in-app purchase to pick up some shiny new planes, weapons and other goodies.
You should be familiar with the tale: King Arthur is ticked off at Sir Lancelot for courting Queen Guinevere. But in Wild Blood, Arthur’s sister, the sorceress Morgana, captures Guinevere and hides her away somewhere on the island of Avalon.
Being the knight in shining armor that he is (er, literally), Lancelot, played by you, sets out to save Guinevere, defeating Morgana’s Hellgate demons along the way, and eventually confronting the sorceress, plus Arthur (whom she’s put under her spell!), to rid the world of evil and rescue the queen. Trusty Sir Gawain (also of round table fame) serves as your trusty sidekick and adviser.
Battle 20 different enemies; wield everything from an axe to a long bow to a sword; experience graphic combat in both melee and ranged battles; and solve puzzles along the way to bring you ever closer to completing your quest — if not for king and country, then at least for the sake of dear Guinevere.
What this game lacks in backstory and character arcs it makes up for in guts and glory on the battlefield. As a warrior of the infinite variety, you’re thrust into battle after battle after battle (that’s the infinite part — not that that’s bad) against enemies in cinematic displays of assault.
Unleash your inner warrior on the 3-D battlefields using intuitive swiping gestures that give way to entertaining combat animations that were reportedly created with input from Hollywood fight coordinators.
As you play you’ll earn loot for your bravery and turn those coins around for better weapons, shields and more. I mean, if you’re going to live up to the title — “Infinite Warrior” — you’d better stay on top of your game. Don’t forget to keep track of your victories by checking your daily score on the leaderboards, either.
