It’s Game Week here at iPad.AppStorm, and all this week we’re going to have tons of reviews, giveaways and other good stuff, all centered around the gaming world!
This week we bring you a classic that’s been updated as an endless runner; a super-addictive medieval city-building game; an army of pint-sized recruits set on liberating as many nations as possible; a drop-dead gorgeous RPG that’s truly the whole package; and a movie tie-in game featuring a resort run by vampires. (No, not those vampires. But give these guys a chance.)

Die-hard fans of Rayman will be happy to see this game arrive for the iPhone with artwork that very closely resembles the classic style of the older versions. The endless runner/platformer features beautiful graphics updated for the Retina display, a variety of vivid environments, a quirky new soundtrack, exclusive wallpapers for your phone and more.
The game is fast-paced to be sure, as your main character only has the option of running forward, requiring you to think on your feet and make split-second decisions. The controls are smooth, but it may take some practice to lock in the hand-eye coordination!
Unlock new powers along the way, and even after you think you’ve met every challenge there is, you can still unlock the Land of the Livid Dead and keep on running.
PlayFirst, who brought us the wildly popular Diner Dash series of games, has teamed with Sony Pictures Animation to gift us with a game based on the upcoming movie “Hotel Transylvania.”
Your main character is Dracula, natch, an enterprising individual trying to run a five-stake (get it?) resort for monsters. Think mummies, werewolves, gremlins, Bigfoot, the Frankenstein family and other creatures that go bump in the night.
Keep guests happy by juggling room service, luggage delivery and completing other tasks. Of course, you’ll have to keep the place looking presentable too, so use your blood bills to spruce up the resort, upgrade VIP suites and find entertainment in the arrival of Jonathan (the first human to ever discover the monsters-only resort).
If you like city-building games, you’ll love Townsmen. Enjoy creating, maintaining and expanding your medieval township by developing revenue streams and keeping your Townies happy.
Build churches, taverns, marketplaces, monuments, parks, gardens and other municipal locales, plus put your townspeople to work mining, logging, farming and producing jewelry, tools and clothing. Then watch them scurry around to complete their tasks and tend to their daily routines.
The graphics are beautiful and look handpainted, and the game is beyond addictive. There are some distracting ads you’ll have to deal with, which appear both at the top of the screen and as a pop-up every several minutes. The developers give you the option of paying $0.99 via IAP to be rid of them, which I highly recommend.
This RPG is drop-dead gorgeous. With smooth animation, vivid graphics and a captivating storyline, Lili is the whole package.
The protagonist is Lili, a curious heroine who’s exploring the island of Geos, home to a number of very interesting characters. Your entertainment comes in the form of interactions with these odd yet amusing creatures, unique “combat” format (in that the combat interactions are noncombat), plus puzzles Lili must solve along the way — for example, encounters with enemies and oppressive regimes, as well as other problems.
I can’t really say enough about how slick this game looks. The 3-D graphics have raised the bar for iOS games, and if every game in the App Store looked this good, I’d go broke real quick.
It’s time to save the world again. Recruit your own army, loot gold in order to buy supplies like upgraded weapons, tanks, magnets, uniforms, vehicles, air support and more.
You can also recruit your friends on Facebook as part of your squad and head to the battlefield, where you’ll be in charge of keeping your troops safe, rescuing any POWs and planning your next strike.
To add to the fun quotient, you can even recruit zombies, ninjas and pirates, all of which have special powers that you can unleash on your opponents as you try to complete objectives, raise your squad through the ranks, and ultimately, liberate nations.
