Welcome to our new weekly feature, iPad Game Thursday! In the spirit of the excellent iPhone Game Friday series done by Marius Masalar, we’re taking it to the iPad for some of the coolest games to hit iTunes within the last few weeks. In this roundup you’ll find a drag racing game, the latest in squid-tertainment, a new puzzler from Disney, a Frisbee follow-up and the official game of the summer blockbuster The Amazing Spider-Man.
Hit the jump to take a look …
CSR Racing
A racing game without high-quality graphics completely misses the point, wouldn’t you say? Fortunately, CSR racing doesn’t disappoint in the least. This drag race-focused game features full Retina display resolution and state-of-the-art lighting that make these cars look flawless and true to form.
Not only a fun racing game, CSR also challenges the gamer’s auto knowledge. Upgrade your (officially licensed) Audi, BMW, Mini, Chevrolet, Ford, GM or Nissan model with turbos, nitrous injection, more powerful engines and other aerodynamic modifications designed to help you out-accelerate and out-maneuver your opponents. Or, just enjoy learning as you go.
To add another level of challenge, you can challenge the other “crews” in the city, pitting your dream machine against their best drivers. The more races you win, the more power you’ll have. While the game itself is free, many of the models and customizations require in-app purchases, which vary in price.

The Amazing Spider-Man
The much-anticipated game to accompany the much-anticipated movie has finally arrived. In this adventure, you get to play through the same storyline played out in the film, taking on the Lizard and the other various bad guys. Sling, swing and crawl your way through the game’s landscape to save the world.
Speaking of the landscape, one of the most enjoyable features of the game is experiencing a 3-D New York City. While carrying out your missions, you can explore a bit, picking up collectibles and even unlocking more missions.
Fans who love to be challenged by combat games will appreciating the melee, ranged and combo attacks available in play, plus the ability to somewhat customize your fighting style and skills.
Where’s My Perry?
This hugely popular puzzler revolves around Agent Perry, a platypus from the Disney TV show Phineas and Ferb — but you don’t have to be a fan of Disney or the show to enjoy this one, trust me.
Agent Perry’s presence has been requested at headquarters, but on the way there, he gets stuck (literally) in the transportation tubes. Now you have to get him to headquarters for his mission briefing by solving a series of physics-based puzzles involving water in all its different forms — ice, steam, liquid — to feed the generators that power the tubes.
Fortunately, the lasers evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz has left behind can help: The heat-inator turns water into steam, or ice into water; the cool-inator turns water into ice, or steam into water; and so on. The game is simple enough to quickly grasp, but just enough of a challenge that you’ll find yourself playing compulsively.
Squids Wild West
A follow-up to the original Squids game, Wild West follows the band of everyone’s favorite squids as they swim into uncharted territory. A combo of action strategy and RPG, the game has you fighting the Black Ooze, evil crabs and shrimp, while also searching for lost squid Winnick.
If you were a fan of the first Squids, this one won’t let you down. You’ve got four new playable characters, almost twice as many levels and a few new bad guys. On the other hand, you’ll still be flinging squids across the battlefields, just like you loved to do in the first game.
Use your shooter, scout, trooper and healer squids strategically to complete missions and win battles, plus recruit a squid army from the more than a dozen different options, and pretty soon you’ll have a squid for every situation!

Frisbee Forever 2
Few things are more addicting than a game of Frisbee, when every time you pick up the disc you think, “This is it, this one is gonna be a perfect throw.” Frisbee Forever 2, just like its first incarnation, delivers that same addictive mindset of play, but you don’t even have to go outside.
Frisbee Forever 2 keeps things interesting with HD graphics and brilliantly colorful backdrops like erupting volcanoes, dramatic waterfalls, European countryside and snow-covered villages in China. Even when certain stages of the game get frustrating, you’ll find yourself in awe of just how darn good-looking the imagery is. But enough about the scenery — you want to throw, right?
Launch that Frisbee sky-high with the game’s tilt and touch controls to glide it through 75 different tracks. Simultaneously, complete your missions, level up, unlock a super-special Frisbee and collect different discs as you go.
