When Apple released the new iPad this past March, its most hyped feature was the Retina display that doubled the screen resolution to 2048 × 1536. The new display looked amazing, but it made nearly all previous wallpapers worthless. Shortly after the new iPad’s release, our own Jacob Penderworth delivered a great list of 100 high definition wallpapers. Now that four more months have passed, giving designers and photographers enough time to stockpile their content, we’re ready to deliver you with a list of 100 more wallpapers to show off on your iPad.
As someone that loves to constantly change the look my iOS devices, I’ve spent a great deal of time scouring the net to find great wallpapers. After the break, you’ll find a true labor of love — a treasure trove of great wallpapers in a multitude of categories (displayed in alphabetical order), ranging from abstract, black & white, movies & television, nature and scenic (just to name a few).
If you’re looking for something more befitting of the season, then check out our recent roundup of the best summer wallpapers!
Unlike most categories, abstract wallpapers are usually great to use on both the lock screen and home screen. The beautiful visuals are eye catching enough to not be a bore when you wake your iPad, but don’t overpower icon visibility on the home screen.

Without Apple, there wouldn’t be an iPad; without an iPad, there would be no need for this roundup. So, it’s only fair to honor Apple with a selection of beautifully designed Apple inspired wallpapers.
Art & Design
You won’t find any famous works of art in this list, but what you will find are some really striking pieces that will help make your iPad stand out in a crowd.
Black & White
I’ve always found black and white photography, when done well, to be very striking. In addition, black and white wallpapers are great to use on your home screen because they offer such great contrast to the beautifully designed app icons.
Who doesn’t love a great game? Mario, Angry Birds and Mass Effect are all amazing in their own right, and what better way to continue your enjoyment of these games than by making them your wallpaper?
If there’s one style of design I’m drawn to most, it’s minimalism. I just love the concept of removing unnecessary noise and clutter, which allows you appreciate what truly matters (something Apple is renowned for). Below are a few wallpapers that attempt the capture the spirit of minimalism.
Movies & Television
For most, visual forms of entertainment like movies and television shows are their main source of entertainment. So it’s only natural that you’d want to decorate your iPad with wallpapers from your favorite movies and shows.
It goes without saying that music is not typically a visual medium. But, that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy plastering your iPad with some musically influenced walls.
Landscapes, beaches and mountains can all be found in this list of beautiful walls. If you really enjoy the majesty that is earth, then you’ll find something to love right here.
Patterns & Textures
Pattern and texture wallpapers can sometimes offer the same flexibility of abstract wallpapers, being a great choice for your lock screen and home screen.
Unlike the nature category, scenic includes some great city wallpapers, as well as some really nice wallpapers featuring famous landmarks.
Space may be best known as the final frontier, but it also makes for some really stunning wallpapers (in fact I’m rocking a space wallpaper on my iPad at this very moment).

We think these are some pretty nifty wallpapers, but we invite you to share your favorites in the comments section.
