Well, it’s been a pretty big week here at iPad.AppStorm and iPhone.AppStorm. We started with a bang, giving away two Waterfield cases, then we moved on to some of the best roundups, games and apps out there. It was a lot of fun, and we hope it helped you choose what games should be in your collection.

Do you like theme weeks like this? Should we do it again? Let us know in the poll to the right!

Every so often I get the urge to play an older game on my iPad. These games are usually at least a year old, likely discontinued by their developers or forgotten about entirely. Why do I do this? Because not only are the games cheap, but they can be quite fun.

After getting hooked on The Simpsons: Tapped Out, I decided to look for another cartoon themed game, and that’s when I found Family Guy Time Warped HD. Last updated in January of 2011, this game is pre-Retina display, and doesn’t take advantage of any of the strengths found in the new iPad. But is it still fun to play? Let’s find out after the jump. This week we bring you a classic that’s been updated as an endless runner; a super-addictive medieval city-building game; an army of pint-sized recruits set on liberating as many nations as possible; a drop-dead gorgeous RPG that’s truly the whole package; and a movie tie-in game featuring a resort run by vampires. (No, not those vampires. But give these guys a chance.)

A little over a year ago, Shaun Inman introduced Flip to the iOS screen. Intergalactic war was drawing to a close, and Flip was the last rocket to roll off of the assembly line. Unfortunately, the ship became trapped in a star’s gravity field, and Flip had to escape before both he and the ship were swallowed by the star.

Flip managed to escape as the ship spiraled into oblivion, but the resulting stellar shockwave leaves little time for celebration. Shaun Inman’s Flip’s Escape reunites players with the star of The Last Rocket and his computer companion as he flees the impending wave, avoiding speeding astroids and collecting their orbital power ups. But does the second chapter of Flip’s adventure hold the same thrills and charm as the first, or is it a cosmic dud? Let’s find out. (more…)

If there is one thing the iPad is good at, it’s gaming. The 9.7-inch screen is the perfect canvas for any developer to make a killer game. Since us writers really love iPad games, we cover them a lot. Heck, it’s even Game Week here at iPad.AppStorm and iPhone.AppStorm.

With the growing market of games for the iPad, it’s quite hard to sort out the good from the bad. Of course, there will always be the classics that we can rely on, but there are tons of other lesser-known games that are just as great. This roundup brings the best of both worlds together. Did your favorite games make it to the top 50? Find out after the break. (more…)

If you’re looking for a racing game that stands out from the crowd and is highly addicting, Slingshot Racing could be the perfect fit. With a style that harkens back to the days when arcade games were popular, but also reminiscent of the Angry Birds series, Slingshot Racing will leave you wanting more.

So, does this game have the potential to be as popular as Cut the Rope or Temple Run? Read on to decide if you’ll be sleeping at the wheel or racing to the finish line! (more…)

It’s the clash of the basketball titans— but not between Shaq and Chuck, between arguably the two best basketball titles for the iPad: NBA Jam and NBA 2K12.

Both of these games put a very different take on the sport we know and love. Will Jam’s arcade-style gameplay and oversizes heads trump 2K12′s aesthetics and excellent simulation? Let’s find out. (more…)

Though some would prefer to celebrate Game Week by flying solo with single player experiences like The Walking Dead or Horn (which are equally as awesome, mind you), the rest of us just want to jump into an online showdown of wits and skills with other players around the world.

Here we have some of the best multiplayer experiences the iPad has to offer. Some are new, some are old, but all of them are guaranteed to provide competitive fun for hours on end. Okay, perhaps not everyone has hours to spare for gaming, but fortunately you’ll have no problem hopping in and out of any of these titles for short-but-sweet game sessions. More after the jump. The iPad has been dubbed as one of the most revolutionary devices in the modern technological industry. It went from doing simple, productive tasks such as checking email and browsing the web, to creating movie trailers and full-length songs. Many corporations have adopted this platform into their daily work routine and even expanded what people can do on the go, freeing people from the chains of their desktops.

Like on any mobile computing platform, people have created games to test the limits of the device. But is the iPad powerful enough to take on the mobile gaming industry? Is there a market for tablet gaming? Can the iPad compete with the dedicated gaming console giants we all know and love today? Lets take a look. (more…)
