Being a couch potato, I strongly that believe the quality of content produced for television easily wins over the 100 million dollar tent pole snoozies churned out by Hollywood. That doesn’t include the gems called reality shows in my list, but there is a wide audience for it and is a big source of entertainment for many.
Television, just like the Internet, suffers from the problem of plenty. There are way too many channels, programs and shows on air and a ton of new pilots start showing up every few months. Finding out the best of the content can be time consuming and that’s where apps like Zeebox step in to lend a helping hand.

Haven’t you always wondered when the next episode of your favorite TV show was going to air? How about wondering which episodes you’ve already watched? I can’t even count, the number of times I noticed I had already watched a particular episode halfway through!
Thankfully, I found a great solution to keep track of which episodes and seasons I’ve seen and when the new ones are going to play: Episoder. This great little app keeps track of all my favorite TV Shows for me, saves me the embarrassment of playing the same episode again and even can even let me know if I skip one!

From the early 1960s, mobile TV viewing was a dream, soon to be fuelled by the Space race, and by the early 1970s, investors such as Panasonic and Sinclair Research began to make it a reality. Fast forward to today and we have a myriad of channels and seemingly unlimited content.
One provider stands out over all the rest, especially in the UK — that of the British Broadcasting Company (BBC). Its content provision has consistently given us quality material, and expert presenting. What, then, of it’s flagship iPhone product (currently only available in the UK), BBC iPlayer? The way television is delivered to customers is slowly becoming archaic. Previously in my old apartment I was forced to use a small cable company to deliver my television entertainment. The company provided high definition but that was about all of the extra features it offered. They did not provide any extra features like viewing content on my iPad or scheduling digital video recordings(DVR) through a website. Recently I moved into a house and I decided to try satellite. After comparing services I decided on Dish Network and their Hopper DVR
While Dish Network may not be perfect, I have been happy with their service and the Dish Anywhere app. It allows Dish Network subscribers to view featured content, browse the guide to see what is on, schedule and maintain DVR events, and also view live TV and DVR events with the optional Sling Adapter. Everyday, roughly 42 percent of tablet owners in the U.S. use their device while watching TV. Why? TV viewers are multitasking (i.e. web browsing) or using their device as a second screen in order to find more information about the program they’re watching or engage in social networking banter.
With this rise of second screen usage, it should come as no surprise that app makers want to provide tools that act as a companion to a user’s TV. Instead of jumping on Twitter to comment about a show, IMDb to access a show’s cast or Shazam to tag a song that’s being performed, IntoNow from Yahoo! hopes to provide all those functions and more. Every so often I get the urge to play an older game on my iPad. These games are usually at least a year old, likely discontinued by their developers or forgotten about entirely. Why do I do this? Because not only are the games cheap, but they can be quite fun.
After getting hooked on The Simpsons: Tapped Out, I decided to look for another cartoon themed game, and that’s when I found Family Guy Time Warped HD. Last updated in January of 2011, this game is pre-Retina display, and doesn’t take advantage of any of the strengths found in the new iPad. But is it still fun to play? Let’s find out after the jump. If there’s one thing I am adamant about (except all things Apple) it’s not missing my TV shows. It used to be easy, years ago, when the number of shows was somewhat manageable. Today though, there seem to be hundreds and hundreds of different offerings that compete for your attention. And if you get sucked into one show, it quickly becomes two, five, ten or more. How does anyone keep track of them?
You could check running times online or in your local newspaper, but there’s a much more elegant way if you own an iPhone or iPad, because, well, there’s an app for that. It’s called iTV Shows 2 and we’re going to take a look at it today. (more…)
As much as the iPad is touted as a great portable content creation device, it still makes a stellar video player. In fact, I watch more video content on my iPad than any other device, including my TV, and most of that comes from independent sources like YouTube channels and blogs.
